The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 has been announced globally, alongside the Xiaomi 13T Pro. This device launched in China earlier this year, and it’s finally coming to markets outside of Xiaomi’s homeland. As per usual, it won’t break the bank, and it has a lot to offer.

This thing looks exactly as you’d expect. It’s an egg-shaped smart tracker, and it has no physical buttons on it (other than the ones to remove the strap). You activate it either by flicking your wrist or tapping the display. The display is flat, while a heart rate scanner sits at the bottom.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 has a 1.62-inch AMOLED display. The resolution of this panel is 192 x 490, and we’re looking at a 326 PPI here. The display goes up to 600 nits of brightness, and has a 60Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi used glass, plastic, and aluminum to make the device.
Xiaomi included a high-precision 6-axis sensor here, a PPG heart rate sensor, and an ambient light sensor. A 190mAh battery is included, and it will provide you with up to 16 days of battery life. It charges up fully in only an hour with the included magnetic charger.
It supports both Android & iOS
Bluetooth 5.1 BLE is supported here, and you’ll need the Mi Fitness app in order to pair the device with your phone. Android 6.0+ and iOS 12.0+ are supported here. The watch also comes with a 5 ATM rating for water resistance, which is great.
The device measures 48 x 22.5 x 10.99mm, while it weighs 27 grams without a strap. The in-box band strap goes from 135-120mm, in case you were wondering. So measure your wrist, if it’s in the extremes on either end.
Now, the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 supports over 150 exercise modes, while it also offers sleep monitoring, all-day SpO2 tracking, and more. There are also over 200 pre-set watch faces.
The band that comes pre-installed on the device is made out of silicone. It’s a standard band that you’ve received on previous models too, if you’ve owned them. Xiaomi does offer various other bands, though, ranging from metal, to leather and more. You can also get a clip for your shoe laces for when you’re running, and a pendant attachment, for example, to wear it as a necklace.
