The Sony Xperia 1 VI will seemingly launch at MWC 2024 in Barcelona. That means it will arrive around three months earlier than its predecessor did this year. As many of you know, the Xperia 1 V launched at the end of July.
The Sony Xperia 1 VI is said to launch at MWC 2024 next year
Those are actually excellent news. Why? Well, they’re excellent if it means the phone will be released sooner, and it almost certainly does. Sony has always been late to the party, and that could change next year.
This smartphone will almost certainly be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and will compete directly with the likes of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max, OnePlus 12, and more.
Do note that this information comes from a sales rep, so it’s not an official confirmation of the event or anything of the sort. Still, it’s easily possible, and we do hope it’s true, for Sony’s sake. The company has been making compelling smartphones for years, but their timing is usually very poor.
It will allegedly include a 6x zoom camera with a large sensor
In any case, some camera info also got tipped along with the launch timeframe. The source claims that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will include a 6x zoom camera with a large sensor. It will allegedly include a zoom capability of around 140mm, which is above 5x zooms currently available.
On top of that, the camera is also said to utilize Sony’s Clear Image Zoom capabilities. Needless to say, those are great news, especially if you add ZEISS optics to the package.
The last piece of info that got shared has to do with the phone’s packaging. The Xperia 1 VI will arrive in a sustainable package, made from recycled materials. The charger won’t be included on the inside, though.
MWC 2024 is still far off, and Sony probably won’t confirm its plans for months. Still, this is great to hear, and we do hope it’s true.
