Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9+. The devices arrive as the company’s most affordable tablets this year, following the Galaxy Tab S9 series flagships in July and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series premium mid-range models last week. The new tablets are now on sale in India, with a wider release expected in the coming weeks.

Galaxy Tab A9 and Tab A9+ specs

The Galaxy Tab A9 features an 8.7-inch LCD screen with WQXGA resolution (1,340 x 800 pixels) and a 60Hz refresh rate. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The device supports microSD cards for expandable storage. It packs a 5,100mAh battery with 15W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. This tablet has a Dolby Atmos-powered dual-speaker setup, a 2MP selfie camera, and an 8MP rear camera.

The Galaxy Tab A9+ is a slightly bigger tablet with an 11-inch LCD screen. It’s a Full HD+ resolution panel (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate. Samsung has equipped this model with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 processor, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot. It has a bigger battery too (7,040mAh) but keeps the charging speed unchanged.

Samsung has also upgraded the Plus model to an AKG-tuned quad-speaker setup and a 5MP selfie camera. The rear camera is still an 8MP sensor and, like the base model, lacks an LED flash. Both tablets are available in Wi-Fi and 5G versions, with support for a physical SIM. You also get GPS, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0 here. The tablets run Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 out of the box. They will get at least two major Android OS updates if not more.

Price and availability

As of this writing, the Galaxy Tab A9 series seems to be only available for purchase in India. However, it shouldn’t be long before Samsung starts selling the new budget tablets in more markets. The base model recently surfaced on the company’s online store in a Latin American country before it was officially announced.

As far as the pricing is concerned, Samsung is asking ₹12,999 (approx. $156) for the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab A9 (4GB+64GB). If you want 5G connectivity, the device will cost you ₹15,999 (approx. $192). The Galaxy Tab A9+, meanwhile, will cost you ₹20,999 (approx. $252) for the 8GB+128GB version with Wi-Fi connectivity. Its 5G version currently comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, priced at ₹22,999 (approx. $276).

Both new tablets are available in Dark Blue, Gray, and Silver colors through Amazon India. Since the e-commerce giant’s festive sales event is currently live, you can get flat instant discounts of up to ₹3,000 (approx. $36) on the Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9+. When the tablets arrive in other markets, Samsung should have similar launch offers there as well.
