Razer announced the Edge cloud gaming handheld back in 2022 at RazerCon, but it’s officially announcing the launch date for the device at CES 2023. We already knew the device would be coming this year but Razer had been tightlipped about a launch date for the Edge up until now. The good news for anyone wanting to get their hands on one, is that the wait is almost over.

Razer says the Edge will arrive on January 26 in the US. It hasn’t mentioned anything about when the device would release globally, but it seems unlikely that it would be too far from US availability. If you missed every detail about the Edge during its initial announcement last year, it’s a handheld tablet with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display built exclusively for cloud gaming. It runs on Android, and comes bundled with the new Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller.

The display is FHD+ and has a 144Hz refresh rate. As a direct competitor to the Logitech G Cloud, it’ll be interesting to see how it compares.

Both models of the Razer Edge will have the same launch date

As a cloud gaming device, the Edge will need to have an internet connection for most gaming experiences. While it does run Android and can play Android games, its primary function is gaming in the cloud using services like GeForce NOW and Xbox Game Pass. To that end, Razer is launching two versions of the device. One that’s Wi-Fi only and one that comes with Verizon 5G built-in.

Razer has confirmed today that both models will launch on January 26. Although, it has only mentioned official pricing of the Wi-Fi only model. Which is $399. As for pricing of the Verizon 5G model, you can pick it up for $599 or $10 a month for 36 months. Razer will also offer a ‘Founders Edition’ bundle that comes with a pair of Hammerhead True Wireless V2 earbuds for $499.
