Google is adding a much-needed feature for the Pixel Watch app, the smartphone companion for its watches. The app is gaining the ability to notify users when the watch is fully charged. The feature is currently in development and doesn’t have a release timeline.

The Pixel Watch app will notify you when your watch’s battery is full

Google released its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, in October last year. It followed up with the Pixel Watch 2 last month. Its Pixel Watch app lets users set up and manage their watch. From customizing the watch faces and setting up Google Assistant and Google Wallet to managing apps, notifications, and settings, the app does everything you’d expect it to do.

However, it lacks a key function that you’d find on similar solutions from other brands, like Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app for the Galaxy Watch lineup. Google’s Pixel Watch app can’t notify you when your watch’s battery is full. If you have put your Pixel Watch on the charger, the only way to check if it has charged fully is by manually looking at the watch screen or via the Bluetooth connection on your phone.

With no automatic notification coming to your phone, you may often end up keeping the watch on its charging pad for an extended period after it’s fully charged, though you would have benefitted by having it wrapped around your wrist. Google is finally preparing a fix for this issue. 9to5Google discovered the in-development feature in the latest version of the Pixel Watch app.

Version 2.1 of the app, which is now rolling out via the Google Play Store, reveals that Google is working on a new notification that will appear on your phone when your Pixel Watch reaches 100 percent battery level. The publication could enable the unreleased feature, and as expected, the notification arrived as soon as the battery level hit 100 percent. “Pixel Watch fully charged,” the notification reads, followed by, “Your watch is at 100%.”

The next update for the app may bring this feature

As the publication demonstrated, the new feature is already functional. Google may be testing it internally and could soon push it to users. The next update for the Pixel Watch app may bring the “full charge” notification feature. If you’re using the Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch 2, watch out for an update for the app. You can click the button below to download the latest update from the Play Store.
