So, OnePlus decided to step into the wearables market a few years ago, and it wound up stepping on a banana peel. The OnePlus Watch was a failure for the company because of its plethora of issues at launch. Well, according to some renders of the anticipated OnePlus Watch 2, it looks like the company wants to leave the past in the past.
New OnePlus Watch 2 renders show a completely different-looking device
If you recall, the OnePlus Watch looked as round as a pebble. It looked like someone put a Pixel Watch into a hydraulic press and flattened it a bit. It has a glossy reflective metal body with two buttons on the side. Also, the display was pretty slim.
However, that was then and it looks like OnePlus went back to the drawing board with the second generation of its smartwatch. Thanks to @onleaks and My Smart Price, we have some high-def renders of the OnePlus Watch 2.
One thing to note is that, while @onleaks is a reputable source, you’ll still want to take it with a grain of salt. With any renders, anything can change between now and the day that the device is released. Just know that things could change at any moment.
Looking at the renders, we see that OnePlus might have opted to retain the rounded face. However, based on the renders, it looks like OnePlus is going to add a flat edge to the upcoming watch. No longer pebble-shaped, the OnePlus Watch 2 could closely resemble a Galaxy Watch.
Looking at the watch face from the top, we see a protrusion on the right side. It looks like it’s going to house the two buttons that you’ll use to control the watch. it appears to protrude a bit in the renders, but it might not look so dramatic in real life.
As per the report, this watch will come with silicone watchbands. They’ll come in black and white.
What are the rumored specs?
According to the leak, the OnePlus 2 could come with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, but there’s no word on the resolution. It looks like this watch will be powered by a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. As for the software, it looks like OnePlus has again opted for proprietary software in lieu of Wear OS.
More details of this watch will come out as time goes on.
