The OnePlus 12 is the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone. It will succeed the OnePlus 11 that originally launched back in January. The OnePlus 12 is expected to bring back some features the OnePlus 11 left out, and in this article, we’ll round up everything we know about the device thus far. You’ll find plenty of links to our news articles over time that talked about the phone, as we’re getting closer to the launch. The article will also be updated regularly with new information, so that you’re always up to date. The phone’s name has already been confirmed, and we’ll share a lot more information about the device below. Having said that, let’s get started.
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the OnePlus 12 (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. This is the initial publishing of the article, no updates have been made yet.
When will the OnePlus 12 be released?
If you’re wondering when will the OnePlus 12 arrive, well, we still don’t know for sure. Its predecessor launched at the beginning of January in China, and the global launch followed later on. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 launched sooner than expected this year, so that could mean the OnePlus 12 will arrive early, but we haven’t heard anything thus far. We also don’t know if OnePlus is once again planning to do separate launches, or will the global model launch at the same time as the Chinese one. If we had to guess, we’d say that the phone will initially launch in December or January.
What models are coming?
Only one OnePlus 12 variant will arrive, at least based on everything we’ve seen thus far. Before, OnePlus used to release a vanilla model in addition to a ‘Pro’ variant. That was not the case with the last two generations, so chances are the same will be the case with the OnePlus 12. We’ve only been hearing about a single model. The phone is expected to arrive in different RAM and storage setups, though, so you will have some options once it launches. We already know that 12GB and 16GB RAM variants will be available, but an 8GB RAM model could also become a reality. We’ll have to wait and see.
How much will the OnePlus 12 cost?
The OnePlus 12 is said to be more expensive than the OnePlus 11. Why? Well, the phone is not only expected to include a larger battery, but also improved cameras, and wireless charging. All that combined should bump up the phone’s price tag a bit. OnePlus will cut less corners this time around than it did last year, that’s for sure. The OnePlus 11 launched with an outstanding $699 price tag in the US last year. It was considerably more expensive in Europe, though. Well, We may be looking at a $50-$100 price bump in the US this time around, though that’s just a guess. No detailed info surfaced just yet.
What will the OnePlus 12 look like?
At this point in time, we do know what the phone will look like. It won’t differ from its predecessor all that much, to be quite honest. This information is based on CAD-based renders, and an image of the device the company’s CEO showed off. Pete Lau showed off only the front side of the phone, so the rest is filled in by CAD renders. In any case, the phone will have a similar camera oreo on the back, similar to its predecessor. Even the camera layout on the back will be similar, with two camera sensors in the first row, and in the second will sit the third camera, and an LED flash. That camera oreo will protrude on the back, quite a bit.
It will still include a curved display
You can expect glass to be included on the back of the OnePlus 12. There’s a chance that OnePlus will release a vegan leather model. Or, alternatively, a variant with a different material on the back, you never know. OnePlus loves to release special edition phones, so… we’ll see. Chances are that all base models will have glass on the back, though. That glass will be flat for the most part, but it will curve on the sides towards the frame. The display on the device will be curved, despite the fact both Google and Samsung seem to be ditching curved displays. A display camera hole will sit at the top of the phone’s panel, and the bezels will be immensely thin.
Yes, the device will have an alert slider, it will sit above the power button on the right-hand side. The phone was also said to offer a “premium build” in one of the rumors, which is rather vague, but there you have it. That’s all we know thus far, if new design-related information appears, we’ll let you know. Images that surfaced thus far are available below this paragraph.

What specs will the OnePlus 12 have?
What about the phone’s specs? Well, the OnePlus 12 will be the company’s new flagship. You’d expect it to have a great spec sheet, and that’s exactly what’s expected here. Plenty of details surfaced thus far, so let’s see what you can expect. Starting with the display, the phone will include a 6.82-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display (1-120Hz) from BOE. This is the brand new X1 display, which becomes immensely bright. At launch, a brightness of 2,600 nits was mentioned. However, a tipster suggests that the panel that was announced can go above and beyond that, maybe even all the way up to 4,000 nits. Perhaps OnePlus is sitting on that information so that it can announce it during the OnePlus 12 launch event. Remember, OnePlus and BOE announced this display together with OPPO, OnePlus’ sister company.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will fuel the device, it has been confirmed
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is confirmed to fuel the OnePlus 12, though that was an easy guess. This is Qualcomm’s brand new flagship processor, and OnePlus always utilizes the latest and greatest Qualcomm has to offer. On top of that, LPDDR5X RAM will be included in the package, as will UFS 4.0 flash storage. The global variant of the phone is expected to offer up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. In China, OnePlus could go all the way up to 24GB, at least based on some rumors. The phone already surfaced on both AnTuTu and Geekbench, by the way. Android 14 will come pre-installed on the device, while OnePlus’ OxygenOS 14 Android skin will sit on top of it.
Hasselblad is back, along with other camera improvements
What about the cameras? Well, Hasselblad will once again be included in the equation, as its color science will be in use here. A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IM966 sensor) is tipped, along with a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit (Sony’s IMX581 sensor). The third camera on the back will be a 64-megapixel telephoto camera (3x optical zoom), based on rumors. A 32-megapixel camera is tipped for the phone’s front side.
The phone will be water and dust resistant, and it will even include an IR blaster, something its predecessor did not offer. The OnePlus Open does include it, and it was spotted on the device, so… there you go. A 5,400mAh battery is rumored for the device, a considerably beefier battery than in the OnePlus 11. The phone will support 100W wired charging, and the charger will be included in the box. Unlike the OnePlus 11, the device is also said to support 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. A “super-large VC” heat dissipation area is also rumored.
Should you wait to buy the OnePlus 12?
Should you buy the OnePlus 12? Well, in the sense that you shouldn’t get the OnePlus 11 and wait for the OnePlus 12, yes, probably, at least to see what the phone will offer. The launch event is only a couple of months away, so you’ll have a better idea then. The phone will not only come with a new SoC, but will offer (fast) wireless charging, better cameras, a noticeably larger battery, and so on. The OnePlus 11 offers outstanding battery life with its 5,000mAh battery. So, it will be interesting to see what will the OnePlus 12 be able to do. On top of that, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Waiting for this phone may be a good idea. If you don’t really want to get a OnePlus phone, well, there are plenty of good options out there at the moment. Once again, though, many Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones are coming, so… waiting may not be a bad idea.
