Nokia has been pretty nonexistent in the smartphone game, so, it looks like it’s focusing on “dumb phones”. Nokia just announced its new 2780 Flip flip phone.
Since this is 2022, and the concept of a flip phone has a completely different meaning ( thanks to Samsung), it’s important to note that no, this is not a clamshell foldable but we’re talking about. It’s a good old-fashioned flip phone with a small screen and a T9 number pad.
The Nokia 2780 Flip can give you up to 7 hours of talk time
Though touchscreen smartphones have taken over the mobile phone market, that doesn’t mean that there’s no place for classic flip phones. There are still a lot of users who value simplicity and the bare essentials over flashy new features. This is the core mentality behind the Nokia 2780 Flip.
This phone has a respectable rounded rectangular design with two nice-looking colors. As for specs and features, this device obviously won’t be using the latest Snapdragon 8-Gen 1+.
On the outside, this phone has a simple LCD display to show you the time and that’s pretty much it. We’re not sure if it will also show you any notifications like calls or text messages.
Above that display, we have the camera and the accompanying flash. The camera is a 5-megapixel shooter, so it’s good to just get the job done. This phone also takes videos.
Looking at the inside of the phone, it has a 2.8-inch display. The number pad features large buttons. Let’s not kid ourselves; a lot of the users who’ll get this phone will most likely be elderly. So, having larger buttons makes it a lot easier to use.
Above the number pad, there are the typical except call, hang up, menu, back, and shoulder buttons that you would find on a flip phone. Also, there’s the select button and D-pad in the middle.
This phone has a few interesting features
The Nokia 2780 Flip uses 4G LTE technology. Along with that, there’s HD Voice. This will help you hear the other caller with crystal-clear audio. There’s also real-time text (RTT). This feature lets you send text messages to other people while on a call. There’s hearing aid support in case you are hard of hearing, and there’s also 4G VoLTE.
As for endurance, you can expect up to 7 hours of active talk time. This phone has up to 18 hours of standby time in case you don’t use your phone too much.
Price and availability
You will be able to pick up the Nokia 2780 Flip through AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile starting on November 15th. It will run you $89.99. That’s not a bad price for what you’re getting.
