Since LG left the smartphone market, the company has been showing its final flagship phones some love. This meant updating the LG V60, LG Velvet, and LG Wing to Android 11 and Android 12. The former two have already received Android 13, and the LG Wing is following suit, according to Phone Arena.
In case you don’t remember, the LG Wing was one of the most unique phones to come out in 2020. It has an interesting dual-display design where the main display will swivel sideways, This would give the phone a T shape with the secondary display occupying the bottom.
The main display was a 6.8-inch POLED panel with a 1080 x 2460 resolution (3.9-inch 1080 x 1240 for the secondary display). What’s notable about this display is that it didn’t have a punch-hole or notch. It was completely clear.
As for the internals, this phone used the Snapdragon 765 5G SoC, and that was backed up by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Keeping the lights on was a 4000mAh battery. It supported 13W charging. Those weren’t top-of-the-line specs for the time, but they were still pretty good.
Moving onto the camera the LG Wing had a 64MP main camera with a 13MP ultrawide and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Up front, this phone had a 32MP selfie camera.
The LG Wing is getting Android 13
Just like with the other updates, the Android 13 update won’t change anything about the visuals for this phone. LG isn’t prioritizing changing the design of the software or anything like that.
Instead, this phone will come with some of the new functionality that came with Android 13. This includes letting you edit the items in your clipboard, simpler multi-window controls, notification permission, app activity status in the notification shade, and improved media controls.
This update closes the book on LG’s smartphone support, and on LG phones in general. The company left a long legacy of amazing phones, but all good things must come to an end.
