Last week, Apple released iOS 17.2 for its devices, which could fix annoying bugs, including the Wi-Fi slowdowns and wireless connectivity issues on some BMW cars. The latest iOS 17.2 beta also adds spatial video recording to iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max using main and ultrawide cameras. The feature lets iPhone owners view spatial videos via Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The update is now available to developers and public beta testers

The spatial videos are shot in landscape orientation at 1080p and 30 frames per second. There’s also an option for using 3D effects. To enable the feature, toggle the “Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro” in the Settings app. Apple notes that a minute of spatial video shooting takes up around 130MB of the device’s storage.

Spatial video recording is coming to iPhones with the iOS 17.2 beta 2 update

In September, Apple said spatial video recording will land in iPhones in late 2023. You can now update your iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max to the iOS 17.2 beta 2 and start shooting spatial videos. Of course, the $3,499 price tag puts it out of the reach of many enthusiasts. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Apple Vision Pro costs more than three weeks’ worth of pay for the average American. The Apple Vision Pro headset isn’t yet available in the market, but it’s scheduled for early 2024.

Besides spatial video recording, Apple also updated the Sensitive Contact Warning. As Apple notes, the feature “helps you avoid receiving unwanted nude photos or videos on your Apple device.” With the latest update, Sensitive Contact Warning is now expanding to stickers in the Messages app and Contact Posters in the Contacts app.

The feature is disabled by default. But you can enable it by going through Settings, Privacy and Security and toggling the “Sensitive Content Warning” option. You can either enable it for all apps or specific apps.
