Nokia’s here to prove that it’s not done making compelling smartphones with the Nokia X30 5G

IFA is here, and Nokia is looking to turn some heads with its newest offerings. The company pulled the veils off of its newest premium-mid-ranger, the Nokia X30 5G. This phone promises to deliver a premium experience at an affordable price. This phone’s mixture of flagship features and a palatable price is the reason why we granted this phone a Best of IFA award.

The Nokia X30 5G has some flagship features up its sleeve

Starting off with the design, you can tell that HMD Global put a lot of thought and effort into this phone. The design is rather nice, and it’s definitely up there with the likes of the Galaxy A23 5G. The back is made from 65% recycled plastic. However, it has a metal frame made from 100% recycled aluminum. The camera model is also housed in an aluminum housing.

Turning to the display, we see a departure from some of the other Nokia phones launched recently. Instead of a tear-drop notch, there’s a more discrete punch-hole front and center on the display. It has a decently-sized 6.43-inch OLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution, so it’s an FHD+ display. This is the company’s first OLED display in three years, and it also has an admirable 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 700 nits.

Keeping to this phone’s display, the Nokia X30 5G has its fingerprint scanner under the display. This is a great thing to see in a mid-range phone.

You should get good performance from this phone

Moving over to what powers this phone, you can expect some good performance. The Nokia X30 5G is running the Snapdragon 695 5G-enabled SoC. It’s not the most powerful mid-range processor from Qualcomm, but it’s plenty capable. Also, it enables the phone to pick up on sub6 5G signals for speedy internet.

This phone comes with both 6GB and 8GB of RAM depending on the variant. Also, there’s a variant with 128GB and 256GB of storage, so that’s pretty average for a premium mid-ranger.

This phone has a dual-camera setup

On the back of the Nokia X30 5G, there are two cameras. There’s a main 50MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture. You can expect the camera to bin down to around 12MP. As for the other camera, we’re looking at a 13MP ultrawide camera with an f/3.06 aperture.

It has a decently-sized battery

Keeping the lights on for this phone is a decent 4,200mAh battery. It should get you through the day just fine with light to moderate usage. The Snapdragon 695 is a pretty power-efficient processor, so that should add to the battery mileage. If you need to charge the phone, you can with 33W of power.

If you’re interested in picking up this phone, it will be available for $530. It’s launching today.
