The Huawei Mate 60 Pro was announced by Huawei quite recently. The phone launched in China, and it managed to get a lot of attention worldwide due to its SoC. This phone is equipped with Huawei’s chip capable of 5G connectivity despite the US sanctions. That’s a different story, though. In this article, we’ll talk about the Huawei Mate 60 Pro durability, as it was submitted to a series of torture tests, basically.
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro does a great job in a series of torture tests
A YouTube channel called ‘PBKReviews’, which usually does teardowns and drop tests, tested the Mate 60 Pro. The phone was tested in a rather brutal way, in a series of drops, and was then mixed up with a bunch of sand in a bag.
The device did an outstanding job in these drop tests, proving its build quality. Huawei’s second-gen Kunlun glass, in particular, was the shining light here. That is basically Huawei’s replacement for Gorilla Glass.
The first-gen Kunlun glass did a great job on the Mate 50 Pro, and now it proved its prowess yet again. This glass is made by Huawei, and it’s ion-strengthened glass applied on both sides of the Mate 60 Pro.
Do note that the plastic screen protector was removed before this test began. So that both the front and back glass portions are exposed. The phone also doesn’t have a case or anything like that, as you can see in the provided video.
The phone was dropped repeatedly, and even got ran over by a car
First, the phone was dropped from face height, straight to the display, twice. Then, the person in the video did the same thing, but from the side. Several more drops followed, and he even ran the phone over by a car. No, that didn’t crack the glass either.
The phone also did a fine job resisting sand. The device is IP68 certified, so its dust resistance is expected, but this test was kind of out there. Either way, the phone did an amazing job, the video below is definitely worth watching.
