The Huawei Mate 60 series is coming this year, and Huawei may actually borrow a feature from the iPhone 14 Pro. To be more specific, the Huawei Mate 60 series may include a pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display, according to rumors.
The Huawei Mate 60 to borrow a design feature from the iPhone 14 Pro
Huawei already featured this back in 2020, with the Mate 40 and P40 lineups, and it’s now preparing to bring it back. That pill-shaped cutout will include two cameras, and 3D ToF sensors for face scanning.
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro included a notch at the top for that purpose, but Huawei is looking to mix things up again. We’re not sure if Huawei also plans to use some sort of animations to bring that pill-shaped cutout to life, though.
Huawei animations have been great for years, so utilizing them in a similar way to Apple may not be out of the question. The rumors did not mention anything about that, though.
The Huawei Mate 60 series is likely coming this Fall
The Huawei Mate 60 series is expected to land this fall, and not much is known. We’re actually expecting a similar design to the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, but with a pill-shaped cutout, instead of a notch.
Huawei will likely opt for metal and glass/vegan leather once again. The Mate 60 series is expected to arrive to global markets, well, at least the ‘Pro’ model. We cannot confirm anything just yet.
Even the SoC that Huawei will use is still not known. As many of you know, Huawei is prevented from using 5G connectivity due to the US sanctions. It is currently relying on the 4G variant of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
It will be interesting to see Huawei’s take on ‘Dynamic Island’, should the company attempt to create something like that. We’ve seen several Android apps trying to mimic that functionality, but it would be interesting to see Huawei’s baked-in implementation.
