HTC could be preparing a follow up to the Desire 20 series launched last year. Live images of a new Desire branded HTC phone, called the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G, have appeared on SlashLeaks, revealing the phone’s design and some of the key specs.
The leaked images show the phone featuring a flat display with relatively thick bezels and a centered punch-hole cutout. The volume control and power buttons are on the right side, with the latter seemingly integrating a capacitive fingerprint sensor as well. There’s a USB Type-C port on the bottom edge along with a down-firing speaker. It’s unclear whether this phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the back of this purported HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G is a quad-camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel primary camera. Three of the four camera sensors are stacked vertically while the fourth sensor sits to the right of the top lens. The phone also gets a dual-LED flash inside the rectangular camera bump at the top left corner. The leaked images show the phone in a green-colored textured back panel.
The device bears the model number 2QAG100. It is a dual-SIM phone which is, disappointingly, running Android 10. Although there’s no word yet on the rest of the specs of this phone, it’s evident by the name that it’ll be a 5G-capable handset. However, it’s unclear whether the phone will support 5G connectivity on both SIM simultaneously.

There are, of course, no details available about the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G’s launch date or pricing as of yet. But if and when it arrives, it will be only the second 5G-capable HTC phone to date. The HTC U20 5G is the only 5G-enabled smartphone from the Taiwanese company so far.
The device debuted last June with a Snapdragon 765G SoC, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. It featured a 6.8-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ punch-hole display, a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and a 48-megapixel quad rear-camera setup.
The HTC U20 5G is a mid-range phone at best. It arrived in the Taiwanese market with a retail price of NT$18,900 (approx. $675). The company may pack similar specs in the Desire 21 Pro 5G as well and launch it at around the same price range. We’ll have to wait for more reports to emerge before we can paint a clearer picture of this upcoming HTC smartphone.
