We did our best to select a wide variety of wallpaper applications to show you. So, no matter if you prefer AMOLED wallpapers, live wallpapers, abstract, or minimal ones, you should find something for yourself here. Wallpapers can really make a difference when it comes to your smartphone setup, as they cover the back of your home screen, and the wallpaper you choose you’re bound to look at every time you unlock your phone.

Zedge is probably the best wallpaper app for most people. Why? Well, this app has been around for ages, and it has matured quite a bit. It has a huge collection of both wallpapers and live wallpapers, but that’s not all. This app also brings your ringtones, notification sounds, and alarm tones. So if you’d like to spruce that up as well, here’s your chance.
The design of Zedge’s UI is really nice as well. it’s minimal, and a real joy to use. Over time, tons of wallpapers have been added here, and they’re all categorized. If you know exactly what you’re looking for, that’s great, as a general search feature is also included in this app. You can search for a specific car, sunset, or any other theme that you’re interested in.
Zedge also offers quite a few options when it comes to live wallpapers. That is not the main focus of this app, but many such wallpapers have been added over time. Zedge is a free app, though you can always pay up to avoid ads. In-app purchases are also included here, but the app won’t force you to buy anything.

If minimalism is your thing, you’ll probably like the Minimalist Wallpapers app. This application is loaded with “unique and creative collection of minimalist backgrounds”, says the company. Well, the company’s right, there are a ton of unique offerings inside this app, wallpapers I haven’t seen elsewhere.
This app contains over 2,500 minimalist wallpapers of all kinds. New wallpapers are being added every day, by the way. The company also notes that every wallpaper in the app is designed to fit any screen. These are all high quality wallpapers as well, as is the case with other apps on the list.
The company also put in place quite a few categories, to make your search for a specific wallpaper that much easier. The app also supports dark mode, sand the app allows you to use a simple swipe to change wallpapers. The app even promotes the minimalist icon pack, which fits great with these wallpapers.

Walloop

If live wallpapers are your thing, well, Walloop is probably the app for you. This app brings quite a few live wallpapers to the table. Just to be clear, the app is not limited to live wallpapers. You’ll find regular, high-quality wallpapers here as well, but live wallpapers are its main focus.
The app can be set up to automatically change your (live) wallpapers. It even allows you to use your videos as live wallpapers, if you want. The app comes with a ‘Live Lock Screen’ feature, which allows you to decorate your home screen and lock screen with two different live wallpapers at the same time.
This app can serve you as a regular wallpaper app as well. It is packed with wallpapers, and it even has a great collection of AMOLED wallpapers. Categories are available here, and the app’s UI is also great. It’s minimal, and it’s extremely easy to use. The app is free to use, though in-app purchases are an option.
Abstruct

If abstract wallpapers are your thing, Abstruct is the way to go. This application has been created by Hampuss Olsson, a designer of OnePlus wallpapers. OnePlus has been using Mr. Olsson’s wallpapers for years, and they are included in this app. Moreover, many additional abstract wallpapers are available here.
All wallpapers that are loaded in this app are available in 4K resolution. The app will automatically offer you the appropriate wallpaper size for your device, though. Paranoid Android wallpapers are also available in this application, as those have been designed by Mr. Olsson as well.
The app itself looks quite modern. Minimal is in style, and that’s what you get here. The app is extremely simple to navigate, and it works great. This application is free to use, though in-app purchases are included. Ads are not a part of the package, though, so you won’t have to deal with those.

Many people these days are interested in so-called AMOLED wallpapers. That is not all that surprising considering that they fit great on AMOLED displays. They draw less power than your regular wallpapers, and look really minimal at the same time. Well, there are quite a few apps dedicated exclusively to AMOLED wallpapers, and Starless is one of them.
Starless is arguably one of the best AMOLED wallpaper apps in the Google Play Store. This app is free to use, though do note that both ads and in-app purchases are a part of the experience. That being said, this app looks great. The design is spot on, and the offered wallpapers are great in terms of quality.
There are over 10 categories to choose from, and the app allows you to both set and download wallpapers. You can also create your favorite wallpapers list, if you want, you can simply tap to favorite specific wallpapers. No matter if you’re looking for fullHD, QHD, or 4K wallpapers, this app has you covered.
LitWallz

LitWallz is one of the best-designed wallpaper apps for Android, that’s for sure. This application is very minimal, and it performs great. It’s extremely fluid, and most importantly, it has a great collection of wallpapers for Android. Ads are a part of the package, as are in-app purchases, but that probably won’t bother many of you.
This app has a rather colorful design, and yet it’s not too flashy. New wallpapers are being added every single day, so the content remains fresh. These are all high quality wallpapers, by the way, as is the case with other apps on the list. Live wallpapers are also included here, just in case you’d like to spice up your home screen further.
The LitWallz app has a number of categories for you to choose from. Those categories are: AMOLED, Superheroes, Nature, City, Beaches, and so on. This app also contains the so-called scrolling wallpapers, which you can take advantage of as long as your launcher supports them.
WalP

If you’re looking for wallpapers from a specific brand, like Apple or Samsung, well, WalP is the wallpaper app for you. Not only does this app contains such wallpapers, but you can browse them based on the device they are included on. So, for example, you can check out wallpapers included on the Galaxy S20. There are quite a few such wallpapers available.
This app is not all about brand wallpapers, though. You can check out the ‘Popular Tab’ to check out which wallpapers are downloaded most. The ‘Recent Tab’ shows you the most recently-added wallpapers. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s always the ‘Shuffle Tab’ that will surprise you.
These are high quality wallpapers, and the app does support adding them to a favorites list. This app also supports ‘Auto Wallpaper Changer’ feature. You can instruct the app to automatically change your wallpapers. The interface here is also really nice, it’s minimal, and a joy to use.

If you’re on the lookout for truly unique wallpapers, wallpapers that you won’t find anywhere else, Backdrops is for you. This app even allows you to upload wallpapers yourself, though they’ll need to be verified first. Once they do, they’ll end up in the app’s ‘Community Tab’, where all user-created wallpapers are sent.
The team behind this app is constantly adding new wallpapers, by the way. You can choose between various different styles of wallpapers, from material and minimal, to patterns and scenery, for example. Even AMOLED-friendly wallpapers are a part of the picture here, and there are quite a few of them.
If you want more than the free version of the app offers, you can unlock Premium Collections, if you pay up, of course. Creating your list of favorite wallpapers is also possible here, while the Backdrops UI is also really nice. The UI is modern, and it’s really a joy to use, as is the case with basically every other app on this list.
Walpy

Walpy, not to be confused with WalP, is also a great wallpaper app for Android. This app supports the ‘auto changing’ feature, and can change your wallpapers so that you don’t have to. This app’s design is also extremely minimal. If that is your thing, then you’ll love this design, as it basically just combines black and white colors, and leave all the focus to be on wallpapers themselves.
Now, this app basically offers the best auto changing wallpapers feature that we’ve stumbled upon. You can set it to change wallpapers only while you’re connected to WiFi, while your phone is charging, or while it’s idle. Now, in terms of wallpapers, this app pulls them from Unsplash.com, in case you were wondering.
That results in a collection of really high quality wallpapers. There are a number of categories that you can choose from, and quite a few wallpapers are available. Ads are not a part of the package, but in-app purchases are. Do note that the app won’t force you to buy anything, though.
Walli

Walli is yet another wallpaper app that managed to get extremely popular in the Play Store. There’s a good reason for that. This app brings forth a really rich collection of wallpapers that you can choose from. Some of these wallpapers are even featured on Google Pixel devices and in the Google Wallpapers app. You won’t find many generic wallpapers in this app, because this is a community-driven app.
Walli’s wallpapers are exclusively made by artists, and all of these wallpapers are high-res, quality images. Considering how many artists deliver wallpapers to this app, things are not exactly one-sided. Different people prefer different styles, and hence different-looking wallpapers. Because of that, you will find tons of rather interesting, and unique-looking wallpapers in this app.
The company behind this app promotes artists via the app, so that they get recognition, and you get some unique wallpapers out of it. The app also offers the automatic wallpaper changer feature, which has been requested by Walli’s users for a while now. Walli is free to use, though it does contain ads, and there are in-app purchases included, if you feel like spending some money.
