Philips Hue is making huge upgrades to your gaming setup with the new Play Gradient Lightstrip for PC
Philips Hue typically releases its fall lineup at IFA in Berlin every year. And this year, it surprised us a bit, by releasing the new Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip for PC, which is quite the mouthful. Essentially, it is the same Play Gradient lightstrip that it launched for TVs a couple of years ago, but not it is made specifically for monitors.
Since most people were putting those lightstrips on their monitors in their gaming setups anyways, it made perfect sense for Hue to come out with lightstrips that are specifically made for these monitors. They are going to be available in two different sizes, one is for monitors that are 24-27 inches, and then 32-34 inches. This may not work as well for an ultrawide monitor, however.
So what makes these lightstrips so special, and worthy of our Best of IFA 2022 award? Let’s get to that.
These lightstrips work with Razer and Corsair’s lighting software
If you’re a gamer, or even a streamer, you’ve likely used Razer Synapse and Corsair’s iCue lighting software, and these Philips Hue lightstrips do work with both. Allowing you to sync the lightstrips with what is on your monitor’s display. Making it really immersive, and a really cool look for going on stream on Twitch or elsewhere.
If you don’t use either of those, it does still work with the Philips Hue Desktop app too. So you can still sync with your monitor that way.
The Philips Hue Play Gradient lightstrips are a nice upgrade over the older lightstrips. This is because it is not using individual LEDs that have specific zones for colors, but it’s a longer LED light that gradients from color to color. making it look fuller. They’ll be available starting at $169, on September 13.
Of course, we can’t forget that the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrips for PC also work with other Philips Hue products. So if you have Philips Hue lamps and bulbs in your room, you can sync those with your monitor as well. Making for a really immersive experience. And making it a really great experience for those that are already invested in the Philips Hue ecosystem.
This is why the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip for PC has earned our Best of IFA 2022 award this year. And it’s definitely well earned.
