ASUS is hard at work on its next-gen ROG series gaming smartphones. The company is said to be readying at least three new models: ROG Phone 7, ROG Phone 7D, and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. The former two have now appeared on the benchmarking platform Geekbench to confirm their existence. The base model has also picked up the 3C certification in China.

Over the past few days, three unannounced ASUS phones with model numbers AI2205_B, AI2205_C, and AI2205_D have popped up on Geekbench. Based on earlier rumors, the former two are the Chinese and Indian variants of the ROG Phone 7, while the latter is the Chinese variant of the ROG Phone 7D. As expected, all of these phones feature the same processor (Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) and get 16GB of RAM. Android 13 is part of the package too. The devices scored identical points in the early Geekbench run. The single-core CPU tests yielded scores of around 2,000 on Geekbench 6, while multi-core scores are around 5,800.

Separately, MySmartPrice recently spotted the base ROG Phone 7 on China’s 3C certification website as well. Both the Chinese and global variants were spotted with 65W of maximum charging speed. The listings didn’t reveal any other notable information, though. But as usual, we should be getting a big 6,000mAh battery, AMOLED displays with a 165Hz refresh rate, and a host of gaming extras like a cooling fan, dedicated buttons, and RGB lights on the back. The ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate or 7D Ultimate should also soon appear on Geekbench and various certification portals. We will keep you posted accordingly.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 series should debut in the second half of 2023

ASUS launched a total of six different ROG Phone 6 series gaming smartphones last year, including a couple of special editions. It began with the standard and Pro models in July. Then came the Batman Edition in September, alongside the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate. Finally, we got the Diablo Immortal Edition in November. The Taiwanese company is doing the same this year.

The ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7D are already taking shape, while a ROG Phone 7/7D Ultimate is in rumors too. ASUS may find a few partners for some special edition versions as well, though details are scarce at the moment. The launch timeline should be the same: between July and September. You can expect more leaks and rumors about the next-gen gaming smartphones from ASUS in the coming months.
