The ROG Ally will officially be a global release, ASUS has confirmed in a tweet on its ROG account back on April 14. While this was probably expected, it wasn’t confirmed until last Friday. Nearly a full two weeks after ASUS teased the device.
So that probably left some to wonder where this thing would be available. As it turns out, it’ll be available worldwide. That doesn’t necessarily mean every nation in the world of course. But it should be available anywhere ASUS products are already sold. If you missed the news of ASUS’s ROG Ally, it’s an upcoming handheld gaming PC. It’s got “twice the power of the Steam Deck” according to ASUS and is essentially a Steam Deck competitor.
Though it does run on Windows 11, whereas the Steam Deck runs on a carefully crafted version of SteamOS. So there are going to be some immediate differences just with the UI and user experience alone. When you get right down to it though, it’s a handheld gaming PC. One that we’re very excited for.
The ASUS ROG Ally might get a global release “sooner than you expect”
ASUS isn’t sharing an official release date yet but the company does say that it might be “sooner than you expect.” It’s also opening signup notifications for consumers in the US who are interested in buying one.
It will probably be available through multiple major retailers. However, ASUS is partnering specifically with Best Buy for the signups in North America. So Best Buy will be at least one of the official retailers where it goes on sale. Perhaps the exclusive retailer for a time.
There are still a lot of unknowns about the device though. While it’s supposed to have twice the power of the Steam Deck, ASUS hasn’t confirmed any specs. There’s also still no word on how much the device will cost. But even without a confirmed price point, expect it to be significantly more than the Steam Deck base version that costs $399.
