Apple pledged to release a fix for Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 overheating and battery draining issues. The information was obtained from an internal memo the tech firm shared with its Authorized Service Providers.

In late October, Apple released the watchOS 10.1 update for its latest generation of smartwatches. The update brought a bunch of improvements and new features like the double tap gesture. However, customers who updated their wearables to watchOS 10.1 started complaining about severe battery draining and overheating issues. If you’re an affected Apple customer, don’t worry. Help is on the way.

A memo that Apple shared with its Authorized Service Providers reveals that the company is aware of the issue and a fix is “coming soon.” Apple didn’t specify the exact timeframe for releasing the update. But it should not take too long as the issue negatively impacts user experience.

Apple will soon release a fix for Apple Watch overheating and battery-draining issues

Additionally, the Apple Watch models that are dealing with overheating and battery draining are still unknown. The tech firm also hasn’t yet explained the cause of the issue. A quick fix is all Apple Watch customers expect from the company for now.

According to Reddit posts, the Apple Watch Series 9 models and Ultra 2 aren’t the only Apple watches that are affected by the issue. A user on Reddit wrote that his Series 6 battery is not charging over 50%, and it drains the battery in about 15 minutes. Other users have made similar complaints.

The same problem goes for Ultra 2. Apple already claimed that its Ultra 2 watch can fulfill up to 36 hours of battery life and double that in Low Power Mode. However, a Reddit user posted that his Ultra 2 battery drains from 100% to 10% in just 3 hours. Another user wrote his Ultra 1 watch was down 28% in 2 hours.

While a fix is on the horizon, Apple Support representatives suggest that impacted customers could uninstall and reinstall the Weather app or disable Location Services for Weather and disable Significant Locations. Deleting all third-party apps is another proposed solution until an official update from the company arrives. Some Apple Watch Ultra 2 owners said deleting third-party apps worked for them and fixed the battery-draining issue.
